O the day I’ve been awaiting for has finnally arived…. The Windows Mobile Client for Live Mesh. If, unlike me, you haven’t been using Live Mesh, get with it! :)

 It’s great if you have a multiptude of computers and now that includes Mac’s and Windows Mobile.Ok so its limited to us Brits and the Yanks, but get ready folks else where it’s not going to be long!Just one of the MANY applications this will bring to us on the WinMo side of things is the Syncing of your Photos automagicly… Now I have a rubbish camera on the current phone (Palm 750v) but just wait until I get my latest shiny :) (Touch HD) But more on that later.

If you were following my Twitters yesterday (and why would you man! :p) you will have noticed that I watched the t-mobile launch of the G1, Google’s first Android OS phone… Here are the bullet points…

  • Quad Band GSM and HSDPA & HSUPA, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS
  • GMail is push email and has pressence within your phone book
  • UK early November
  • Long Tap for second menu (i.e. Cut & Paste)

From what I’ve seen on the web and heard on the grapevine its not to bad… Lets just wait and see what it looks like in the flesh shall we?

The other day I had to purchase a new laptop, a beast of a machine x64 2.8ghz with SSD (love the quietness!!!)…

So with the excitement of a new shiney brings then comes the realisation that I need to build the development environment again!

Then I thought, hmm, Virtual Environments…

I then remembered that MS VPC’s don’t have any USB support…

Arrh, says Google, but VMWare does…

After what felt like an age I gave up on trying to convert a VPC to VMWare and just cracked on with building the VPC I started in the first place…

I’ll come to sorting out the VMWare issue when I need to, I can live without the USB and the device debuging it brings for the moment.

That was until today when I final got the time to complete the Windows 2008 x86 VP install…

“The update could not be installed because at least one Windows component required by Windows Mobile Center is missing”

This link is a fix that works for some, but it would work for me as it requires you to connect a physical device to your install.

Now that doesn’t me stop building applications in 2008 as the Emulators work fine, as do the new SDK’s…

It just stops me from using the “Cradle” feature within Device Emulator Manager which in turns enables a connection not only to the network but to the host machine (that becomes more useful over time, trust me!)

Anyone else had this issue? Or am I just plan mad trying to develop on Windows 2008, should I just stick to 2003 and Vista?

The Sony Ericsson X1 is being shown today and the rest of the week at Tent London. The old Trueman Brewery, near curry house central Brick lane, is to showcase its “innovative and unique style” amongst some of the world’s most cutting edge designers.

Today the much talked, yet late, about Sony Ericsson X1 SDK was released.

This puts to bed any rumours of its death… Which is a good thing as I’ve got a few people who are awaiting this device with bated breath… (I’m one of them)

A great thing for us developers though has to be that SE have opened up one of the phones best features, its panel based UI, to developers in the form of this SDK.

I’ve just installed it, along side Google’s new borwser Chrome but that’s another post, and I’ll let you know if there is anything worthy of a post.
